Julius Caesar  was originally set to an Italian libretto.  This recording made at Abbey Road in 1985 is of the acclaimed English National Opera production of 1979, and has some sensible cuts and alterations from the original, as the opera is extremely long and had to be trimmed for the ENO stage. The cast is stellar, with some of the very best of English soloists of the decade.     Also a superb vibrant recording.
