Handel's last succesful season was that of 1735/6  and it was then m in 1736, that he presented Atalanta, an opera in 3 Acts. The anonymous libretto is an adaptation of La c accia in Etolia by B. Valeriani,  a typical tale of a mythical paradise. The work is overall written in a light, serene pastoral style.
