This item appears as new throughout except as mentioned above. Acquired by us in 2007 as part of a large collection but never played since. The discs  are visually perfect.

The story for the opera was based on a satirical novel by Svatopluk Cech. Janacek's fifth opera, it was a failure when first perfomed, but has become much more appreciated since.  The weird story tells of a bored Czech landlord,  who,  rather drink in the pub, falls asleep and has two dreams: one of a trip to the Moon,  and one to a battle field in the 15th century.
