This item appears as new throughout. Acquired by me in 2007 as part of a large collection but never played since.

Guntram is not one of Strauss's better-known operas and is one of his earliest staged works being constructed bewtween 1887 and 1893 with a large pause due to illness. The libretto was also written by the composer.  The opera was premiered in 1894.  In the late 30s  Strauss made a new version with lighter orchestration and this is the version presented here.
